H2Electro is a deep-tech start-up company that is developing and producing next-generation solid oxide electrolysis cells (SOECs) and stacks for the production of green hydrogen, enabling the replacement of fossil fuels with renewable energy.
Our innovation lies in the use of all-ceramic fuel electrodes instead of the traditional nickel cermets (e.g. Ni-YSZ) used in most solid oxide electrolysis cells. Fully ceramic electrodes are significantly more stable than Ni-YSZ (nickel-yttrium stabilized zirconia) due to being substantially less sensitive to oxygen and contaminants like sulphur and carbon. This means that our stacks do not require a protective gas atmosphere or extensive gas purification which significantly decreases the balance of plant (BOP) costs of the electrolyser system.
H2Electro aims to make widespread use of intermittent renewable energy sources (such as wind and solar) a reality by providing electrolysis cells and stacks that utilize all-ceramic fuel electrodes. These stacks can be used in electrolysis systems to produce green hydrogen, with the ultimate goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. Additionally, we aim to establish ourselves as a leading manufacturer of these electroysis cells and stacks that use fully ceramic fuel electrodes.
