This week, a business delegation from Saudi Arabia is visiting Estonia to explore the country’s food and beverage sector and its opportunities and offerings. The delegation is particularly interested in Estonia’s innovative food solutions and high-quality products.

The delegation includes representatives from the following companies: Panda Retail Company, BinDawood Group (Danube), Edafat International Trading Co., Saudia Dairy & Foodstuff Company, and Awal Qutouf Trading (AQT).

“Saudi Arabia, with its large market and rapid development, especially in food purity and sustainability, is one of the most important emerging target markets for Estonian food exports. We see a significant competitive advantage for Estonian companies in this market. During previous business visits, we have observed strong interest from the local retail sector in our products, and companies such as Haage Drinks and Balsnack have already started selling there. We hope this visit will provide Saudi Arabian retail and food businesses with new insights and confidence that Estonian food is clean, sustainable, and of world-class quality,” said Katre Kõvask, CEO of YOOK Production and Head of the Food Union’s Export Working Group.

“I am very pleased that Estonia’s innovative food production solutions are gaining recognition worldwide and that Saudi Arabian representatives have come here to learn about our companies. We aim to find additional export markets to boost the competitiveness of Estonian food producers. We have forward-thinking entrepreneurs and exciting, high-quality products. Additionally, we offer several innovative solutions in food production that could be of interest to our Saudi Arabian partners,” added Regional and Agriculture Minister Piret Hartman.

During the visit, the delegation will learn about the developments in Estonia’s food and beverage sector, meet with sector organisations, and visit several Estonian food production companies.

On the first day, 20 January, the programme starts with a seminar involving representatives from the Enterprise Estonia (EIS), the Estonia-Saudi Arabia Business Council, the Food Authority, and the Food Industry Association, offering an overview of Estonia’s food and beverage sector. The delegation will then meet Agriculture Minister Piret Hartman and visit snack producer Balsnack International Holding AS.

In the following days, the delegation will travel to Tartu, Võru, and Tõrva to visit companies such as oat drink producer YOOK Production AS, water producer Haage Joogid OÜ, food producer AS Salvest, Valio Eesti AS Võru Cheese Factory, and the Shroomwell mushroom farm.

Estonian companies will participate in the Gulfood food exhibition

The final day of the visit (23 January) will focus on direct meetings, which will allow Estonian food companies to showcase their products and connect with potential business partners.

This visit follows a business mission by food and beverage sector companies to Saudi Arabia in September, during which snack producer Balsnack secured several new contracts with local buyers.

Next, Estonian companies will participate in the Gulfood food exhibition in Dubai, which will take place from 17 to 21 February. This will offer another opportunity to showcase their products. The Enterprise Estonia (EIS) and the Estonian Food Industry Association initiated and organised the visit.
