Investments in energy plants are a massive capital outlay. With Africa having over 700 million people yet to be connected to the power grid, innovations within the energy market are rapidly redefining the energy landscape, according to CNBC Africa

CNBC Africa’s Aby Agina speaks to Tarvo Ong, CEO of Fusebox, an Estonian company that provides energy companies with its Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and advanced Energy Management Software (EMS) solutions, discussing some of the emerging technologies and what this could mean for Africa’s energy game plan. Fusebox, the leading flexibility provider in the Baltic states, secured €2.6 million in funding in January 2025 to accelerate its expansion across Europe. This followed a successful funding round in December 2022.
