Construction company Merko signs a hefty contract with NATO

UAB Merko Statyba, a subsidiary of the Estonian construction company AS Merko Ehitus group, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Support and Procurement Agency signed a design-build contract for which the construction company will build training infrastructures in Lithuania.

The total cost of the contract exceeds 130 million euros, plus the applicable value-added tax. The actual value is determined after adjustment with the construction price index of the respective periods.

The original design-build contract for constructing training infrastructure was initially signed between Merko and NATO on February 14th, with an estimated total cost of over 110 million euros. On the 15th of April 2024, the addendum to the design-build contract between UAB Merko Statyba and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency was signed.

This last contract expands the existing design and construction agreement. The additional work involves establishing new infrastructure at the NATO training centre in Pabrade, Lithuania.

The value of additional works exceeds 20 million euros, which will be added to the agreed-upon base contract amount, plus the applicable value-added tax.

The construction works are scheduled to be completed by 2026.
