Estonian AI company DriveX has signed an official partnership with Automotive Glass Experts, opening its windshield-damage assessment software to a network of more than 2,000 automotive-glass repair and replacement locations across 29 countries.
DriveX, a Tallinn-based deeptech company, said AGE members will be able to use its AI-based tool to assess windshield damage from smartphone photos and decide whether the glass should be repaired or replaced, as writes DigiPRO.
The agreement gives the Estonian supplier a new route into large repair and claims networks that need faster front-end triage and more consistent repair-versus-replace decisions across multiple markets.
DriveX targets a narrow global workflow
Under the deal, AGE members can use DriveX software to make an automated first assessment from images captured on a smartphone. Per DigiPRO, AGE brings together more than 2,000 service points in 29 countries and handles about 2.5 million automotive-glass jobs a year.
“After a few years in business, we set ourselves a goal: either we become truly the best in the world at glass-damage detection or we shut the company down,” Rauno Sigur, co-founder and chief executive of DriveX, told DigiPRO. “That was one of the best decisions in our team’s history, because by now we have proved what our technology can do — and on a global scale.”
DriveX says its patented AI produces a repair-or-replace recommendation in about three seconds and reaches more than 95% accuracy. The system can also identify the vehicle VIN, suggest the correct spare part, flag the need for ADAS calibration and help detect possible fraud.
The AGE agreement extends a market push that has already taken DriveX into insurance and glass-repair workflows outside Estonia. Trade with Estonia has reported on DriveX’s €1.2M funding round for windshield-damage detection and on the company’s expansion into Nigeria with a local insurance-platform partner.
DriveX says it already works with companies including Swedbank, Vienna Insurance Group, Carglass and SIXT, giving the company references across insurance, glass repair and mobility services.
Future scale
Marco Antonio Moreno, chief executive of AGE, said the network wanted tools that would give its members a practical edge. “DriveX gives exactly that: the accuracy to make the right decision in every case,” he told DigiPRO, adding that the group was also impressed by the product’s ease of use and its ability to run in different markets, languages and member brands.
According to DigiPRO, about 100 million windshield-damage cases are recorded globally each year, with roughly 40% made up of smaller chips or cracks that can be repaired in less than half an hour. That leaves a large volume of work where repair networks have a commercial incentive to move more jobs toward repair instead of replacement.
