On March 27th, Estonia opened an honorary consulate in Zhytomyr Oblast with the aim of fostering cooperation with Ukraine. Mykola Sichenko serves as Estonia’s honorary consul in Zhytomyr.
Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Annely Kolk said the honorary consulate in Zhytomyr would allow to increase the aid provided to Ukraine. “I am glad that the representation of an Estonian honorary consul in Ukraine is in the Zhytomyr region. For two years now, it has been a priority region for Estonia in development cooperation and reconstruction, demonstrated by the reconstruction of a bridge last autumn,” the ambassador said.
In addition to assisting Estonian citizens, the honorary consulate will advance trade and business relations between Ukraine and Estonia. “In cooperation with the honorary consul, the premises of the consulate can be used as an Estonian centre for presenting various business projects, cultural exchange and other activities in developing relations between our states,” Kolk said.

It is the first Estonian honorary consulate opened in Ukraine since the annexation of Crimea by Russia. The main tasks of the honorary consul include providing consular assistance to Estonian citizens, boosting economic and cultural relations, and other activities in developing relations between our states.
The honorary consulate was opened by the President of the Estonian Parliament Lauri Hussar, Estonian Ambassador to Ukraine Annely Kolk and Governor of Zhytomyr Oblast Vitaliy Bunechko. The address of the consulate in the city of Zhytomyr is Kyivska Street (Kyiv Street ) 10.
