Estonian cyber company Neverhack goes global — and keeps us all safe

Tallinn-based Neverhack Estonia is setting the gold standard for digital defence across Europe and beyond. In a time when cybercriminals are getting smarter and sneakier, one Estonian company is stepping up and stepping out onto the world stage.

Neverhack Estonia, formerly known as CYBERS, a local cybersecurity company, has become a global player in a worldwide network after merging with the international cybersecurity group Neverhack last year.

“Cyberattacks don’t come out of nowhere. They leave traces. Often hackers sit in networks for weeks before the data is encrypted.”

Since then, the team in Tallinn hasn’t just kept up — they’ve become the heart of the operation, leading a global round-the-clock Security Operations Centre (SOC) that helps businesses and governments stay one step ahead of hackers.

Fighting hackers, 24/7

Think of the SOC as a digital command centre. It’s where skilled analysts monitor networks day and night, spotting early signs of attacks and stopping them before real damage is done. “Cyberattacks don’t come out of nowhere,” says Jürgen Erm, CEO of Neverhack Estonia.

“They leave traces. Often hackers sit in networks for weeks before the data is encrypted. At the extreme, there has been evidence that significant companies, such as US telecoms, are already infiltrated by foreign agents who are just waiting for the command to attack. Our job is to find them in time.”

Setting up a dedicated SOC can take years to build, but offered as a service, it can now be up and running in weeks, and at a fraction of the cost. That means even small and medium businesses can afford the kind of protection that used to be reserved for the tech giants.

From Estonia to Europe — and Beyond

Until recently, Neverhack Estonia focused mainly on Nordic neighbours like Finland and Sweden. But now, they’re working with clients in France, Italy, and Spain, with support offices in places as far as Toronto, Singapore, and the Middle East.

What makes them stand out? “We had something the global team needed — our Security Operations Centre framework,” says Erm. “We have a vision of developing the service further and making it more efficient.”

Cybersecurity isn’t just a concern for governments or giant corporations — it touches everyone. Whether it’s your bank account, medical records, energy grid, or social media profile, anything connected to the internet is a potential target. Although cybersecurity is dynamic, three major trends should be kept in mind.

“In cyber defence, there are no competitors — only allies. Attackers don’t care who you are. They want in.”

The rise of AI in cybercrime (and defence)

Artificial intelligence is changing the game for both sides. On one hand, cybercriminals are using AI to create shockingly realistic fake emails, messages, and even voice recordings. That makes scams even more challenging to spot, even for tech-savvy users.

But on the defence side, teams like Neverhack are turning to AI-powered tools that can detect patterns, simulate attacks, and respond faster. It’s an arms race of algorithms, and Estonia is staying ahead. If you’re not using AI to stop attacks early, rest assured — your attackers are already using it to break in.

Quantum computing threats on the horizon

It may sound like science fiction, but quantum computers are quickly becoming a reality, and they seriously threaten how we encrypt our data. Current encryption methods that protect our emails, banking, and medical records could one day be cracked in minutes by powerful quantum machines.

It is not an immediate threat, but companies must start planning how to transition to post-quantum cryptography and implement secure algorithms.

Cloud security and the need for top talent

More companies are moving their data and operations to the cloud, which makes security even more critical. But keeping the cloud safe isn’t easy. It takes top-tier expertise, and Europe still lags in building strong, local cloud infrastructure.

Estonia doesn’t yet have the size or resources of tech superpowers. Still, companies like Neverhack are showing that what we do have — expertise, agility, and trust — can go a long way in making our digital spaces safer.

“Back up your data. Install updates. Help your grandparents set up two-factor authentication. Even small actions make a big difference.”
Jürgen Erm, CEO of Neverhack Estonia

Working together to stay safe

Back at home, Neverhack Estonia works closely with Estonia’s cyber agencies like the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA) and the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT). They share threat information, coordinate responses to ransomware attacks, and help spread cybersecurity awareness nationwide.

“In cyber defence, there are no competitors — only allies,” says Erm. “Attackers don’t care who you are. They want in.” Neverhack’s message is simple: cyber safety is a team effort. It’s not just up to companies and governments — it starts from you. “Back up your data. Install updates. Help your grandparents set up two-factor authentication,” Erm urges. “Even small actions make a big difference.”

The company isn’t stopping here. With plans to expand their global operations and continue leading innovation in threat detection, Neverhack Estonia is proving that a small country can have a big impact. In a world where cyber threats are always evolving, Estonia’s own Neverhack is showing the world how to fight back — smartly, collaboratively, and with a local touch.
