Marketex Marine, a company belonging to Estonian BLRT Grupp, has begun constructing the world’s first modular floating multi-purpose entertainment platform, known as Oceaya. The project’s scalable design allows to adjust its size and shape depending on the event.

Dmitri Gornostajev, a Marketex Marine board member, emphasized that even though Marketex Marine specializes in constructing fish-feeding barges and is proud to have over 400 Marketex Marine-built barges in operation worldwide, the company is always very keen and excited to bring to life such thrilling engineering projects as Oceaya.

This groundbreaking project, designed by Waterstudio.NL and Prospect Design International, and engineered by Meyer Floating Solutions, is backed by Florida-based Oceaya LLC. The project’s scalable design allows to adjust its size and shape from 604 sq.m. to over 1,161 sq.m. Construction of Oceaya is expected to be completed by the middle of 2025.

Marketex Marine´s recent special project was built for a Norwegian customer – it is called Salmon Eye and is a unique floating exhibition centre currently located in the Hardangerfjord in Norway.

Project Oceaya is a pioneering force in the floating solutions market

“Together with my team, our goal was to align with the world’s best engineers to bring my vision to life. Today, I am thrilled to see the first physical steps in bringing Oceaya to life take place at this state-of-the-art shipbuilding facility,” said Daniels Ikajevs, CEO of Oceaya LLC and the visionary behind the project.

Ms Janelle Branch, a partner at Oceaya LLC launched the production of entertainment center, having sent the first element of the platform for fabrication.

“At Meyer, we are constantly pushing the envelope in the floating solutions market. Despite the extensive work behind the scenes, witnessing our projects like Oceaya come to life and introduce groundbreaking solutions remains immensely rewarding,” shared his enthusiasm Antti Laaksonen, Project Manager at Meyer Floating Solutions Ltd.

Multi-purpose venue supporting entertainment and marine research

According to its designers, Oceaya is a multi-purpose structure that can seamlessly relocate across the globe, whether to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North or South America. It is a versatile destination for various activities. The center is engineered to cater to the diverse needs of its guests and can transform into multiple configurations and use cases, ranging from a nightclub, a fine-dining restaurant, a cinema, a catwalk, or an exclusive venue for high-profile private and corporate events.

However, it will be involved in research projects in addition to its entertainment function. The project team will actively support scientific research related to local marine ecosystems. Researchers will have access to the venue’s facilities, and Oceaya will provide funding for research projects aimed at fighting climate change, slowing sea level rise, understanding aquatic environments, and preserving marine life in the areas where it operates.
