Estonian startup Sera AI has raised €1.5M in a seed round to enter the international market with its sales automation platform. The round was led by Maki VC. Other participants in the financing included Specialist VC and co-founder of Ready Player Me Kaspar Tiri. Previous investors include Bolt founder Markus Villig.

Founded in Tallinn in 2024 by entrepreneurs Sergio Rannula and Karl Maaroos, Sera is transforming the way companies approach lead generation. Sera develops an AI-powered sales agent designed to automate prospecting, background research, and personalized outreach, aiming to reduce repetitive tasks in B2B sales.

“Today, Sera is already the leading AI sales agent on the market. Our next step is to surpass the world’s top human sales specialists – it’s only a matter of time.”
Karl Maaroos, co-founder and CTO

Their AI-powered platform eliminates the manual work of sales research, allowing users to identify potential clients with precision and speed. By simply describing the target company—such as its industry, location, product type, competitors, or funding stage—users can generate refined lists that include key decision-makers, their LinkedIn profiles, email addresses, and more, all powered by custom AI prompts.

Sera boosts global revenue for manufacturers

“Sera was engineered to eliminate the soul-crushing grunt work of sales – the research, list building, and personalization that steal at least 15 hours a week from the average sales rep. Our AI delivers 5× higher qualification rates than the industry standard because it thinks like a human salesperson, not a spam bot. The Estonian way is to build a strong product, keep the noise low, and deliver measurable value,” said Sergio Rannula, co-founder and CEO.

Sera’s technology is used by both technology firms and mid-sized manufacturing companies. Bolt, Ready Player Me, and Montonio already use it. But its most powerful use cases have been in manufacturing companies reliant on export, where Sera has helped them secure new international partners, bringing in millions in additional revenue.

The company plans to use the new funding to grow its marketing and extend its reach into new markets.

Estonian AI agent aims to outperform top human sales specialists

“Sera has been on our radar since day one. Their speed, adaptability, and distinctive product vision convinced us quickly that they’re out to build something category-defining,” said Caroline Gattner, Investment Manager at Maki VC.

Sera’s AI agent works globally, accessing a verified database of over one billion contacts across 300+ million companies. It automatically identifies the best-fit buyers, conducts background research, and sends personalized outreach – in multiple languages and tailored to each recipient.

“Today, Sera is already the leading AI sales agent on the market. Our next step is to surpass the world’s top human sales specialists – it’s only a matter of time,” added Karl Maaroos, co-founder and CTO.
