Estonian healthcare startup Certific has gained 28% market share in Estonia in just 1.5 years after successfully pivoting from a remote medical testing business model to patient relationship management. This new financing round, in which the company closes 700 000 euros, allows Certific to expand to new markets and continue growing in Estonia.
Firstpick, Change Ventures, Heartfelt VC as well as previous investors invest 700 000 euros in this financing round, positioning the company for accelerated growth and expansion. In line with this new chapter, three long-time Certific team members Helena Volmer (in charge of operations and sales), Dr Andres Lasn (medical director) and Keir Volas (technology and product lead) join the leadership team as co-founders.
Certific is a doctor-patient communication and clinical data capture platform servicing more than 115 clinics, over 900 clinicians and 300 000 patients since its launch in January 2023.
“The idea for the product came from real life as I saw the existing solutions didn’t solve the inefficiencies in patient-doctors communication and just caused more administrative burden. I’m excited to join Certific as a co-founder and to help take this rocket ship to the next level and make the lives of patients and healthcare workers around the world a little bit easier,” explained Dr Andres Lasn, Medical Director and former family physician who is joining Certific as a co-founder.
Certific builds the platform for healthcare providers
“We are excited to expand our Estonian portfolio with the addition of Certific. The outstanding team behind Certific, led by Liis, Helena, Andres, and Keir, brings deep expertise and a truly innovative approach to digital health solutions. They are tackling a critical challenge in the healthcare industry—reducing the documentation burden on clinicians—based on their first-hand experiences. We are proud to co-lead this round and support them in building another category-defining company from the Baltics,” commented Andra Bagdonaite, partner at Lithuanian VC firm FIRSTPICK.
Taavet Hinrikus says that healthtech as an industry is quite conservative and tough and Certific has seen its fair share of challenges along the way, including a radical pivot. “The current team has proven to be relentless in their goal of building radically better solutions for the healthcare industry and I’m excited to see the impact they are yet to make,” said Taavet Hinrikus, initial co-founder and investor.
The original co-founders Taavet Hinrikus and Dr Jack Kreindler who played pivotal roles in the early stages of the company, remain advisors and close collaborators for Certific also in the future.
