Estonian robotics company Milrem Robotics is expanding cooperation with Poland’s PGZ Group through new agreements on unmanned ground vehicles, weapon systems and optoelectronics.
The agreements with Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnów (ZMT) and PCO were signed during MSPO 2026, according to a Milrem Robotics announcement. Both companies are part of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), Poland’s state-owned defence group.
The cooperation gives Milrem Robotics a route to combine its experience in military robotics with established Polish industrial capabilities and to offer resulting systems to customers in Poland and international markets.
Integrating weapon systems with unmanned vehicles
Under the agreement with ZMT, the companies will work on the development and production of unmanned ground vehicles equipped with ZMT weapon systems. They will also explore joint customer offers that combine Milrem’s robotic platforms with ZMT’s weapons expertise. The immediate focus is on combining the companies’ capabilities into systems that can be adapted for operational requirements.
Adding optoelectronics to autonomous platforms
The separate agreement with PCO focuses on integrating and developing optoelectronic systems for Milrem’s unmanned platforms. The companies will examine both adaptations of existing technologies and the joint development of new solutions for manned and unmanned vehicles.
PCO’s optoelectronic capabilities complement the sensors and payloads already being demonstrated around Milrem’s THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle. The work is intended to support solutions that can be developed for the Polish Armed Forces as well as international customers.
Moving from a framework to defined projects
The new agreements follow a broader cooperation agreement between Milrem Robotics and PGZ signed in March 2026. That arrangement identified payload integration on unmanned ground vehicles and the potential integration of Milrem’s autonomous technologies into PGZ vehicles as areas for further work. The latest step gives those areas more specific industrial counterparts.
Milrem’s THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle is the company’s flagship platform, while its wider product range also includes the HAVOC Robotic Combat Vehicle and the MIFIK intelligent functions kit. The company leads the European €55 million iMUGS2 programme, which is developing next-generation unmanned ground-system capabilities.
PGZ comprises nearly 70 companies, including industrial plants, service facilities and research centres. Its portfolio covers weapons, communications, optoelectronics, ammunition, radar reconnaissance, armoured equipment, air-defence systems, shipbuilding and maintenance, repair and overhaul services.
Showing the systems at MSPO
PGZ companies are also displaying technologies integrated with THeMIS at MSPO 2026. PIT-RADWAR is presenting its TUGA radar system on the vehicle, while ZMT is showing a remote weapon system equipped with a 12.7 mm multi-barrel machine gun, known as WLKM.
Kuldar Väärsi, CEO of Milrem Robotics, said the cooperation was moving from a broad framework into concrete areas where Polish industry and Estonian military-robotics expertise could be combined for allied customers.
