What happens when a country treats innovation not as a project, but as a national mindset, asks Skip Newberry, President & CEO of the Technology Association of Oregon and an Honorary Consul for Estonia, in his op-ed article in the Portland Business Journal.
In Estonia, I got a behind-the-scenes look at how the government and the private sector can harness technology to improve public trust, streamline bureaucracy and prepare citizens for an AI-driven future. Estonia’s example offers Oregon valuable lessons in how collaboration, adaptability and digital trust can transform not just systems, but society itself.
I recently led a delegation of U.S. technology leaders from the public and private sectors on a visit to Estonia. Our goals included learning more about Estonia’s successful efforts over decades to bring 100% of government services online in a broadly accessible and secure way. In addition to attending the Tallinn Digital Summit (TDS), we also met with leading tech companies that were responsible for helping the Estonian government during its digital transformation, as well as government officials and startup founders.
What can Oregon learn from that visit, read more HERE.
