TIME included Estonian high-power energy storage company Skeleton Technologies in its list of the World’s Top GreenTech Companies.
Skeleton Technologies is a company that develops and manufactures innovative supercapacitors and batteries for use in critical industries across Europe. The company has developed the carbon nanomaterial Curved Graphene to produce its supercapacitors. It provides them with power and energy density.
The Estonian technology startup was ranked 30th out of the top 250 companies. The analysis by TIME considered the positive impact, financial strength, and innovation of more than 8,000 companies developing products, services, or technologies to reverse the impact of human activities on the planet. The 250 top companies hail from over 30 countries on six continents.
Skeleton is constructing a new plant in France
Skeleton Technologies was founded in Tallinn in 2009 by Taavi Madiberk and Oliver Ahlberg and is a technology leader in the field of high-power energy storage. The company, with over 300 employees, operates in Estonia, Germany and Finland. Skeleton’s head office with the engineering center is located in Tallinn.
The company plans to build a new plant in France. In May 2024 Skeleton pledged to expand into France at an economic summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris. The company plans to invest 600 million euros over five years, create 300 jobs, and be ready for IPO in 2027.
The company’s customers are Siemens, General Electric, Shell, and major automobile and heavy electric machinery manufacturers, mainly in Europe and the United States.
