From ship repair to retrofitting, Estonia is developing environmentally friendly concepts that meet the needs of global shipping. At SMM 2024 in Hamburg, Estonia will demonstrate its technological innovation, which not only strengthens the long-standing relationship with Germany, but also positions the country as an important partner for forward-looking solutions.
Estonia, a small country with big ideas, has established itself as a pioneer and innovation centre in the maritime industry, setting new standards in shipping. Thanks to its strategic location in the Baltic Sea region, state-of-the-art port infrastructure and a highly digitalised economy, Estonia offers ideal conditions for the industry.
Partnerships for a sustainable future: Trade Estonia at SMM 2024
From 3 to 6 September, Trade Estonia will join forces with many leading companies at SMM 2024 to show how innovation, sustainability and technology are shaping the future of shipping. From the development of green technologies to the digitalisation of construction and business processes, Estonia is making a significant contribution to meeting the modern demands of the shipping industry and achieving international environmental goals.
At SMM 2024, the following Estonian companies, among others, will present their advanced technologies and services:
- The SRC Group has extensive expertise in EPCI repairs, retrofits and ship conversions, often to tight deadlines and in remote locations. With offices in Europe and a sales office in the USA, SRC offers flexible and technically sophisticated solutions worldwide. A highlight is the methanol superstorage solution, which is seen as a pioneering response to the challenge of establishing the use of sustainable fuels in shipping. SRC is a reliable partner for German companies, implementing complex projects efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner.
- ShoreLink has achieved significant success, particularly in providing advanced equipment for shore power installations in Europe and in expanding its offering in the RoRo and RoPax segments. The company has extensive expertise in the design and manufacture of cable management systems for various types of vessels. In the future, ShoreLink aims to play a central role in the green transition of port areas and promote sustainability in the maritime industry.
- EST Flag – The Estonian Transport Administration offers German companies digital solutions for efficient interaction with government agencies, including tax benefits such as tonnage tax and seafarer schemes. The Department of Maritime Development and Competitiveness was established in 2023 to support the EST Flag initiative. This department coordinates communication, marketing, state aid and maritime IT systems. In the future, cooperation with German shipowners will be intensified in order to register more ships under the Estonian flag and promote maritime growth internationally.
