Estonian Spacedrip advances to NATO DIANA Mission Track

Estonian water-reuse company Spacedrip has been selected for NATO DIANA’s Mission Track, a follow-on programme designed to help defence technologies move towards operational use across the Alliance.

NATO DIANA announced the full cohort of 15 Mission Track innovators on 2 September, following the selection of the first five companies in May. Spacedrip is the only Estonian company in the cohort, according to official post.

The companies were selected from DIANA’s 2026 cohort of 150 innovators, which was chosen from more than 3,600 proposals. Mission Track participants receive €300,000 in non-dilutive funding, continued access to NATO test centres and tailored support intended to accelerate adoption at scale.

Water reuse for remote operations

Spacedrip develops mobile water-treatment and reuse systems for locations where conventional infrastructure is limited. Its automated tactical water-reuse systems are built into containers and designed to be mobile, airliftable and forkliftable.

The systems combine software, automation and water-treatment technology to process wastewater and return water to potable standards. The intended users include expeditionary forces, teams operating in off-grid or adverse environments and stationary sites that need decentralised water and sanitation infrastructure.

Spacedrip’s public product range also includes systems for industrial, remote and modular applications. Its Rapid line is described as a mobile solution for off-grid wastewater treatment and water access in defence and emergency settings, while the company’s broader systems are designed for low-maintenance operation and remote monitoring.

Designed for extreme environments

NATO DIANA has highlighted Spacedrip within its Operations in Extreme Environments challenge, which focuses on capabilities that help forces remain effective where distance, climate and limited civilian infrastructure constrain operations. The programme describes Spacedrip’s systems as ruggedised, containerised solutions capable of processing greywater and blackwater for remote and extreme sites, writes NATO DIANA.

DIANA places water reuse alongside power, medical and logistics technologies intended to reduce logistical burden and help forces operate where external infrastructure is limited. The programme identifies remote geographies and extreme conditions as settings where deployable water and sanitation capabilities can support operational resilience in demanding operational settings.

From accelerator to adoption

Mission Track is the next stage after DIANA’s accelerator programme. It is intended to move selected technologies closer to operational readiness through additional testing, validation and engagement with potential users and adoption partners.

For Spacedrip, the next step is to continue testing its water-reuse systems through NATO’s network and to develop relationships around future deployment. DIANA’s programme is designed to connect innovators with test centres, defence users and industry partners rather than treat selection as the end of the development process.

Spacedrip’s progression sits within Estonia’s DefenceTech sector, where companies are developing deployable technologies for defence and other infrastructure-constrained settings. The company’s selection gives international partners a clearer route to assess an Estonian water-reuse capability within an Alliance-backed testing and adoption framework.
