Roofit.Solar, an innovative solar roof company, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Estonian business to receive the prestigious “Best of the Best” accolade at the renowned Red Dot Award 2024.

This esteemed design award, with a 70-year legacy, has previously honored iconic brands such as Ferrari, Apple, Sony, and Bosch. Roofit Solar earned this top honor for its solar roof product NuClick, which seamlessly integrates Nordic minimalist design with cutting-edge, invisible solar energy technology.

The Red Dot Award 2024 attracted entries from 60 countries, with a jury of 39 experts concluding that  the Roofit.Solar NuClick solar roof represents a major step forward in the use of solar energy in the building sector – technically, functionally and, above all, aesthetically. “We felt it was important to honour this project with the highest award and we want to encourage the industry to follow suit. The potential is phenomenal!” stated the jury’s commentary.

NuClick  looks like a traditional metal roof but incorporates the latest solar technology without compromising on style or ease of installation. The roof is designed to be durable and withstand extreme weather conditions.

The company exports 95% of its products made in Estonia, which can be found on buildings in 23 countries across Europe. “We believe this is the future technology for environmentally friendly construction, set to become a preferred alternative to conventional panels,” said Anijalg.

In Estonia, Roofit Solar roofs are installed on buildings such as the University of Tartu, the National Library, and various other buildings. Many heritage-protected buildings rely on this roof as the only option for utilizing solar energy, as preserving architectural style is crucial, and standard solar panels are not permitted.

The solar roof has received multiple design awards. Earlier this year, it won the iF Design Award 2024 and the German Innovation Award 2024. Additionally, Roofit.Solar received the Red Dot “Best of the Best” award in the Urban Design category, specifically in the Building Elements subcategory.
