According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2025, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 9% and imports by 11% compared with July 2024. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.4 billion and imports to nearly €1.9 billion at current prices. 

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in July, exports of goods grew primarily due to re-exports, i.e., the re-exports of previously imported goods increased by 26%. “The re-exports of mineral products (incl. natural gas) and transport equipment rose the most,” the analyst added.

Exports of goods of Estonian origin fell by 1%. Goods of Estonian origin accounted for 59% of total exports in July, and their share decreased by six percentage points year on year. The decline was mainly influenced by lower exports of mineral products, wood and articles of wood, and other manufactured goods of Estonian origin. “The value of foreign trade is calculated at current prices, which means that this year’s lower prices on the oil and timber markets also have an impact here,” noted Leppmets.

In July, the biggest increase occurred in exports of mineral products

The main commodities exported in July were electrical equipment (16% of Estonia’s total exports), agricultural products and food preparations (12%), and transport equipment (11%). Compared with July 2024, the biggest increase occurred in the exports of mineral products (up by €42 million, or 49%) and the greatest decrease was seen in the exports of wood and articles of wood (down by €16 million, or 12%).

Estonia’s top export partner in July was Latvia (15% of total exports), followed by Finland (14%) and Lithuania (9%). The main commodities exported were mineral products to Latvia, electrical equipment to Finland, and transport equipment to Lithuania. Compared with July last year, the greatest increase occurred in exports of goods to Latvia (up by €62 million), where more mineral products were exported. The biggest decline was registered in exports to Singapore (down by €30 million) and to the United States (down by €15 million). Fewer mineral products were exported to Singapore and less electrical equipment to the US.

Estonia’s top import partner was Finland

The main commodities imported in July were electrical equipment (13% of Estonia’s total imports), agricultural products and food preparations (13%), and transport equipment (12%). The biggest year-on-year increases were seen in the imports of mineral products (up by €67 million, or 49%) and the greatest decline was recorded in the imports of transport equipment (down by €27 million, or 11%).

In July, the top partner countries for Estonia’s imports of goods were Finland (14% of total imports), Germany (11%), Lithuania (9%), and Latvia (9%). The main commodities imported were mineral products from Finland and Lithuania, transport equipment from Germany, and agricultural products and food preparations from Latvia. Year on year, the greatest increase occurred in imports of goods from Finland (up by €48 million), from which more mineral products were imported. Imports from Turkey declined (down by €12 million), with less electrical equipment imported.
