They are the second-best readers, the best mathematics and science students, and, furthermore, the most creative among their peers. According to the latest PISA study, Estonia’s 15-year-olds are the undisputed European champions in education, reported German news site Tagesspiegel.
In Germany, however, the 2022 study is called the second “PISA shock”. Due to the pandemic, test results worldwide were significantly poorer than in previous years. Estonia performed better than many other countries, with the educational gap between German teenagers and their Estonian counterparts widening. German 15-year-olds are approximately a year behind their Baltic peers.
